The Battle for Rusty
Rusty was originally a mascot that was presented to the Warrior football team in the fall of 1991. It was determined that Rusty would serve as a trophy for the winner of the yearly football game between Lutheran Westland and Lutheran Northwest. It has been a tradition that has been carried on annually since that very first game. Rusty stays with the winning school for the duration of the year, spending 13 years with Lutheran Westland and 15 years with Lutheran Northwest. Last year, the Warriors brought Rusty home after 3 years. We’re hoping to keep him here this year! Come out and support our Warrior football team this Thursday, October 24 at 7:00, as the battle for Rusty takes place on our home field.
