Welcome, Charity Wright!
We’re so excited to welcome our new English teacher, Charity Wright!
After graduating from Michigan State University, Mrs. Wright began teaching High School English. She went on to receive her Master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum. After receiving her Master’s, Mrs. Wright worked at Henry Ford Community College for nine years teaching English, Linguistics, Creative Writing, and Children’s Literature. In 2014, Mrs. Wright went on to receive her Master’s degree in Education Leadership while also receiving her Administration License.
For the past six years Mrs. Wright taught AP Literature and AP Language as well as several other English classes at a high school level. Mrs. Wright is most excited to discuss her favorite American novel “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” with her new students. She is also looking forward to beginning this new stepping-stone in her teaching journey and being able to share it with her Lutheran Westland students.
Mrs. Wright and her husband Kevin have two children, Blythe and Ben. She enjoys hanging out with them during family dinner and jumping in the river at the Green Docks up North where her mom and sisters live. As lifelong residents of Michigan, the Wright family enjoys the natural wonders of our great State such as traveling to Lake Michigan every summer and beating the waves on Red-Flag Days. They also enjoy blueberry-picking, kayaking, and checking out new shops and restaurants in the small towns dotting the coast.

What’s your title at Lutheran Westland?
English Teacher
Where are you from?
I live in Dearborn with my husband, son, and two cats.
When did you know that you wanted to be in the Lutheran high school environment and what led you to pursue that path?
My son was enrolled to attend Lutheran High Westland as a Freshmen before I even knew there was a job opening that fit my skills and experience perfectly. After asking his permission, I applied with anticipation and joy to become part of the Lutheran Westland family.
What’s your favorite Bible verse?
Romans 8: 38-39, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angles or demons, neither the present nor future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
What are three words to best describe you?
Kind, Creative, Curious
What was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I worked at Ford Motor Company as an Administrative Assistant for a Manager from England. He allowed me to drive his Lincoln when I picked him up from the airport on his return from business trips.
Do you have a hidden talent? What is it?
A hidden talent that I do not have the pleasure of enjoying often is singing.
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?
Empathy. I hurt when others do.
What’s your favorite food?
Olive Garden’s Salad and Breadsticks.
What’s your least favorite food?
Canned Peas.
What’s your favorite place that you’ve traveled and why?
Lake Michigan - This is a place where my family spends vacations every summer and I love fighting the waves.
Where would you like to travel next and why?
Appalachian Mountains - I want to attend a festival to discover my family’s musical roots.
What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I’m addicted to gardening.
What’s one hobby you’d like to get into?
Playing the Banjo.
What’s your favorite sport to watch and which team do you root for?
My favorite sport to watch is Volleyball. I’ll be rooting for the Warriors of course.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
I’m a Snowy White Night Owl, however, since I have to teach AP Literature first period, I don’t have a choice.
Are you a dog person or a cat person (neither or both)?
I’m an animal person, however my pets are both cats.
What’s one of your favorite memories from the past year?
My favorite memory is canoeing down the Platte River this summer.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?

Is there any advice you’d offer to current and future Lutheran Westland students?
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present. In other words, don’t dwell on the mistakes you made in your past.
